Saliency Maps in Matlab

Hey you guys,
in the near future I'll get some files with fixation points which were gathered in an eye-tracking experiment. This is the first time I actually work with the data instead of just collecting it, so I have no idea what do to (just as I have no idea of how to work with Matlab).
I have to create saliency maps out of the fixation points. Does anyone have an idea how to do that? I know the standart answer: "Go, ask google." But I thought it is much easier to ask here as it could be that it is pretty simple and someone knows how to do it.
I'll have more questions afterwards concerning the work with the saliency maps, but this is too much for now. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance for any help.
